This book is intended as a tutorial reference guide for students studying object-oriented programming using Smalltalk. It is organised in glossary/tutorial form. The decision to treat the material in this way was prompted by requests for such a reference text from the author's tutees on the Open University undergraduate course; M206, Computing: An Object-Oriented Approach.It has been written with Open University students in mind and hence uses illustrative examples based on the LearningWorks environment from Neometron Inc.. However, LearningWorks is based on VisualWorks from Cincom Systems Inc., and almost all of the book’s content is applicable to any Smalltalk environment.The author has over 20 years experience teaching Computer Graphics and Software Engineering at under-graduate and post-graduate level.
